Culture Amp vs Qualtrics: employee engagement platform scope, pricing, and fit compared

Two of the most shortlisted employee experience platforms in the market, both sold through a sales team, neither publishing a figure you can budget against. This is an independent comparison of what each one actually does, what its cost is calculated from, and which buyer each one fits, checked against both vendors' own pages in August 2026.

Culture Amp and Qualtrics are both employee experience platforms, and as of August 2026 neither publishes a price on its own site. The difference that decides most evaluations is breadth. Qualtrics is an experience management platform that spans customer experience, market research, and employee experience; its pricing page lists People Engage and People Lifecycle as the employee plans and states that employee experience products are priced on employee count while customer experience products are priced on interactions. Its employee capabilities include engagement and pulse surveys, employee lifecycle management, 360 development feedback, lifecycle intelligence, connected experiences, and enhanced actioning, and it claims the world's largest set of employee experience benchmarks. Culture Amp does employee experience only, organized as Engage for surveys and action plans, Perform for reviews, goals, calibration, and 360 style employee effectiveness feedback, and Develop for growth plans and coaching, with People Science Consulting sold as a separate add-on. Its pricing page shows no figures either, only size bands for under 200, 200 to 999, and 1,000 or more employees, with everything billed annually. Culture Amp states that its benchmark set is built on more than 1.6 billion questions answered across over 6,000 companies. Choose Qualtrics if you want one vendor across customer, employee, and market research, or you already run Qualtrics elsewhere. Choose Culture Amp if employee experience is the whole job and you want engagement and performance connected in one place with organizational psychology behind the instrument. Assessmentcloud is not a third listening platform and does not claim to be. It scores five organizational dimensions, culture and engagement (CU-01), process maturity (PR-02), digital maturity (DM-03), skills gaps (SG-04), and compliance readiness (CR-05), into one 0 to 100 report against an industry median, at a flat published price from $49 a month for the whole organization. That suits an organization that wants a repeatable whole-company diagnostic, not one that wants a continuous engagement program.

LANDSCAPE

Culture Amp vs Qualtrics vs Assessmentcloud, side by side

Every claim in this table was checked against the vendor's own website in August 2026, not against a listicle or a review aggregator. Where a vendor publishes no price, this table says so rather than repeating a figure from a third-party site. That is not caution for its own sake: the per-employee numbers circulating for these two disagree with each other by more than an order of magnitude once you normalize monthly rates against annual ones, so quoting any of them would be inventing a budget for you. We are the third column and we lose several of these rows on purpose, because the fastest way to help you is to let you rule us out.

Typical buyer Companies where employee experience is the whole job and the people team wants rigor in the instrument itself Large organizations that want one vendor across customer, employee, and market research, or that already run Qualtrics elsewhere Organizations that want a repeatable, benchmarked whole-company diagnostic at a price they can read up front

The honest reading of this table is that the first two columns are not really competing with the third. Culture Amp and Qualtrics run employee listening programs at a depth of survey science we do not match, and if that is the requirement, one of them is your answer rather than us. Where we fit is the organization that wants to know which part of the business is weakest, benchmarked, cheaply enough to check again next quarter. Between the two of them, the split is scope: Culture Amp is the specialist that connects engagement to performance and development, Qualtrics is the platform that also owns customer and market research. Pricing and packaging change without notice, so confirm current terms with each vendor before budgeting against anything here, including ours. What Culture Amp does state about its own cost, and what to ask for in a quote, is worked through on the Culture Amp pricing page, the same treatment for the enterprise specialists is on Qualtrics vs Perceptyx, and the wider comparison of employee survey software covers nine vendors on the same basis. If you are weighing more than these two, the Culture Amp alternatives comparison checks eight competitors against the same published-price test.

CU-01

What you get

A price you can read before a sales call

Both platforms on this page require a conversation before you learn what they cost, and both meter on headcount, so the number grows every time you hire. Assessmentcloud lists $49, $119, and $279 a month, flat for the organization rather than per employee, so you can size the decision in the same afternoon you started it. That matters most to the companies that are too small to interest an enterprise sales team and too large to run this on a spreadsheet.

Five dimensions, not only how people feel

Culture Amp and Qualtrics both measure employee sentiment to a standard we do not match. Neither scores how mature your processes are, how far along your technology is, where your skills gaps sit, or whether your compliance work would survive scrutiny. Those arrive here as scored dimensions in the same report, which is what turns "engagement dropped in operations" into a specific operational finding you can assign to someone.

Benchmarked against an industry median

A score with nothing beside it starts an argument about whether 62 is good. Every dimension lands against the median for your industry, so the meeting moves to which gap is widest instead of whether the number is fair to the department that scored lowest.

Cheap enough to repeat quarterly

Employee experience priced per head tends to become an annual event approved by a committee, and one reading of an organization tells you almost nothing. A flat monthly price makes quarterly re-scoring realistic, and organizational change is only visible as movement between two readings taken the same way.

HOW IT WORKS

From setup to scored report

01

Decide which of three products you are buying

The question that shortens this evaluation is whether you need a continuous listening program, a recognized benchmark, or a diagnosis. Those are three different purchases and both vendors here will happily sell you the first two. Qualtrics and Culture Amp are the right answer for a listening program, and Culture Amp in particular for a benchmark with people science behind it.

02

Ask each vendor what the price is metered on

Not what it costs, which neither will answer until late, but what the number is calculated from. Qualtrics publishes that employee experience is priced on employee count. Culture Amp publishes size bands and states that cost depends on headcount, the product chosen, and the service tier. Once you know the meter you can model your own cost and compare two quotes that are otherwise structured differently.

03

Separate the platform fee from the services attached to it

Culture Amp sells People Science Consulting as an add-on and Qualtrics sits inside a large partner and consultant ecosystem. On both, the services line is frequently a large share of year one. Ask for it itemized rather than folded into an all-in annual figure, or you will not be able to compare the two at all.

04

Score the organization, not only the sentiment

Structured question sets return culture and engagement 0 to 100 alongside process, digital, skills, and compliance readiness, with the weakest dimension named first. If engagement is low because a handoff between two teams has been broken for a year, that shows up as a process score rather than a mood, and it gets fixed by a different person.

DIAGNOSTIC INPUT, NOT A CERTIFIED AUDIT.

Assessmentcloud scores tell you how ready you are and what to fix. They do not certify you against SOC 2, ISO 27001, or any legal framework, and we never claim they do. Only an accredited auditor can certify you. Run the diagnostic first, walk into the audit without surprises, and spend auditor hours on certification instead of discovery.

FAQ

Questions about culture amp vs qualtrics

Scope is the main difference. Culture Amp does employee experience only, and connects engagement surveys to performance reviews, goals, and development plans in one platform built around organizational psychology. Qualtrics is an experience management platform where employee experience sits alongside customer experience and market research, which is why large organizations that want one vendor across all three consolidate there. Both are sold through a sales team, both meter on employee count, and as of August 2026 neither publishes a price.

Neither is better in general, and any page telling you otherwise is selling something. Culture Amp tends to fit better when employee experience is the entire requirement, when you want engagement and performance in one system, and when the people team values the research behind the instrument. Qualtrics tends to fit better when survey logic depth, text analytics, and predictive modeling matter most, when you want customer and employee experience measured on one platform, or when your organization already runs Qualtrics elsewhere and the procurement path is open. Run both evaluations against your own use case rather than a feature grid.

Culture Amp publishes no prices. Its pricing page states that cost depends on the number of employees, the product chosen from Engage, Perform, or the full platform, and the service tier, with size bands for under 200, 200 to 999, and 1,000 or more employees, and all products billed annually. Every route on the page is a quote request. Ask for the all-in annual total at your headcount and for the service tier itemized separately, since People Science Consulting is a separate add-on and is often the larger share of year one.

Qualtrics does not publish prices either, but it does publish the basis for them, which is more useful than it sounds. Its pricing page states that employee experience products are priced on employee count, customer experience products on interactions, and strategy and research products on interactions including survey responses and minutes of video feedback. The employee plans are named People Engage and People Lifecycle, and every call to action is Request Pricing or Request a demo. Knowing the meter lets you model your own cost before the first call.

No, not as an appraisal cycle. Qualtrics offers 360 Development Feedback, which is explicitly developmental feedback rather than a performance review process with ratings, calibration, and compensation attached. Culture Amp does run performance reviews through its Perform product, which covers reviews, calibration, goals, one-on-ones, and 360 style employee effectiveness feedback. If you want engagement and formal performance management from a single vendor, that difference alone usually decides the evaluation.

Culture Amp is used to run employee engagement and experience programs: engagement surveys, pulses, onboarding and offboarding surveys, and DEI surveys, with results compared against benchmarks and turned into action plans. Its Perform product adds performance reviews, calibration, goals, and 360 style employee effectiveness feedback, and Develop covers growth plans and coaching. It is bought most often by companies that want the measurement itself to be rigorous rather than incidental.

Culture Amp is the more common answer between roughly 200 and 1,000 employees, and it names that band on its own pricing page, so the packaging and the service tier are built for that size. Qualtrics is engineered for scale and complexity, and mid-size buyers often find they are purchasing and administering considerably more platform than they use, with the setup effort and internal ownership that implies. The exception is a mid-size company that already runs Qualtrics for customer or market research, where adding employee experience to an existing agreement can be the cheaper and faster route.

It depends which part you are replacing. For engagement listening the usual shortlist also includes Workday Peakon, Glint, Perceptyx, and Quantum Workplace, all of which are quote-only. For a published price, Lattice, 15Five, Workleap, and Leapsome list figures you can read before a sales call. If what you actually want is a diagnosis of the organization rather than a listening program, a whole-company assessment that scores process, technology, skills, and compliance alongside engagement answers a different and often more useful question. Check current pricing directly with each vendor.
