Betterworks pricing and cost per user: every plan it publishes, and the two lines the card does not price

Betterworks publishes a price card, which puts it in the minority in this market. What the card does not do is price the part most buyers on this page are shopping for. Engagement surveys sit inside the Enterprise plan, and Enterprise is the one plan with no number on it. This page lists every figure Betterworks states on its own pricing page, marks clearly where the published rate stops, and totals the published rates at real headcounts with our arithmetic labeled as ours.

DIRECT ANSWER

Betterworks publishes prices for two of its three plans. Performance costs $8 per user per month and Performance plus Talent Intelligence costs $9 per user per month, both shown on betterworks.com/pricing. The Enterprise plan is custom priced with no figure published, and Enterprise is the only tier that includes Engage engagement surveys, change management services and transformational program design. Implementation is a separate one-time cost on top of the per-user rate, and Betterworks states it adds the most value for organizations with over 500 employees. At 500 users the published $8 rate is $48,000 a year before implementation, by our arithmetic.

Go deeper: this dimension works alongside 15Five pricing and Lattice pricing, and the guides on betterworks alternatives and employee engagement software cost show the frameworks behind the scoring.

LANDSCAPE

Every price Betterworks states on its own pricing page

Every row below was read on 21 September 2026 from betterworks.com/pricing, from the plan cards and from the pricing FAQ on the same page, and the plan cards were confirmed by screenshot rather than by reading page source, because hidden widget markup is not a published price. Nothing here comes from a review site, a reseller or a procurement database. Rates are quoted per user per month as Betterworks quotes them.

Line item What Betterworks states What it covers
Performance plan $8 per user per month Performance, Goals and OKRs, Feedback, Conversations, 1:1 Meetings, AI assistance, SSO access
Performance plus Talent Intelligence $9 per user per month, marked most popular Everything in Performance plus Anytime Calibration, Succession and Talent Mobility, Skills Intelligence, Unified Talent Profile, Individual Development Plan, AI inference
Enterprise plan Custom, no figure published Everything above plus transformational program design, Engage, In-app Guides, change management services, Signature Support
Engagement surveys (Engage) Not priced separately; listed under Enterprise only The engagement survey product. It is not included in the $8 or $9 plans
Implementation A one time cost in addition to the per user per month pricing; amount not published Professional Services design, implementation and launch. Ask for it as its own line
Minimum employee count No hard minimum stated. Betterworks adds the most value for organizations with over 500 employees A statement about fit rather than a contractual floor
What moves the price Active user population, package and product selection, organizational needs and complexity, deployment requirements The pricing FAQ also lists workforce size, implementation requirements, integrations and desired support levels
Support on Performance Ongoing support, live and on-demand training, a designated success partner Included, no spend threshold stated
Support on Enterprise Dedicated implementation team, change management services, Signature Support Included in the custom price
Included in every plan Experts, in-the-flow-of-work capture, insights, AI for HR, connected platform, integrations Stated as available regardless of package
Free trial None offered on the pricing page; the path is a discovery call Betterworks describes a call to understand your organization, needs and timeline
Billing terms Not published on the pricing page Confirm term length, renewal rate and seat true-up on your order form

Now the totals, which are our arithmetic from the published rates above and not figures Betterworks prints. 500 users on Performance: 500 x $8 x 12 = $48,000 a year. 500 on Performance plus Talent Intelligence: $54,000. 1,000 on Performance: $96,000, and $108,000 on Performance plus Talent Intelligence. 2,000 on Performance: $192,000. Every one of those excludes implementation, which Betterworks states is a separate one-time cost it does not publish, and none of them includes Engage. Your quote will differ, because volume, term and module mix are all negotiable. For the vendors most often on the same shortlist, Lattice pricing states a $4,000 minimum annual agreement and 15Five pricing prints every plan and add-on, while Betterworks alternatives lines up eight vendors on what each one actually publishes. For the wider field, employee engagement survey vendors covers who quotes and who prints a rate.

What you get

The published $8 rate does not buy engagement surveys

This is the single most important line on the Betterworks price card and it is easy to miss. Engage, the engagement survey product, is listed only under Enterprise, alongside transformational program design, in-app guides, change management services and Signature Support. Enterprise is priced as Custom. So if you arrived here because you are comparing employee engagement platforms, the $8 and $9 figures are not your price and never were. They buy performance management: goals and OKRs, feedback, conversations, 1:1 meetings, AI assistance and SSO. Surveys are a conversation with a salesperson.

Implementation is a separate one-time cost, and Betterworks says so in writing

The pricing FAQ answers the question directly: implementation is a one time cost in addition to the per user per month pricing. Betterworks describes a Professional Services team that helps design, implement and launch the program, plus a Customer Success team for the ongoing work. That is a real service and it is reasonable to charge for it, but it means the per-user rate is a floor rather than a budget. Ask for the implementation quote in the same document as the per-user rate, because those two numbers arrive from different teams and only one of them is on the website.

The 500-employee line tells you who the price is built for

Asked whether it has a minimum employee count, Betterworks answers that it adds the most value for organizations with over 500 employees. That is not a hard floor and it is not phrased as one, but it is a strong signal about who the commercial model expects. Run the arithmetic and you can see why: at 500 users, $8 a month is $48,000 a year and $9 is $54,000, both before implementation. A 120-person company asking for a quote is asking a vendor to serve an account a quarter the size it is built around, and the quote usually reflects that.

Pricing varies on four stated axes, so the card is a starting point

Betterworks lists what moves the number: active user population, package and product selection, organizational needs and complexity, and deployment requirements. Elsewhere it adds workforce size, implementation requirements, integrations and desired support levels. Two of those, integrations and support level, are the ones buyers forget to scope before the first call. Write down your HRIS, your SSO provider and the support response time you actually need before you ask for a number, or you will be comparing two quotes that priced different things.

Support is included at every tier, which is not true across this market

Betterworks states that all customers receive support, customer success resources and access to Betterworks University, with deeper coverage at higher tiers: ongoing support, live and on-demand training and a designated success partner on Performance, and a dedicated implementation team plus Signature Support on Enterprise. Compare that with Leapsome, whose own pricing page limits customer success to contracts of US$6,000 or more a year. Included support is worth a real amount of money on a first-year rollout and it belongs in the comparison.

What Betterworks does not measure, and why that matters before you buy either

Betterworks measures and develops individuals: goals, reviews, calibration, succession, skills and, at Enterprise, engagement. What no performance suite answers is whether people are the constraint at all. If delivery is slipping because the process is broken or the systems do not talk to each other, a review cycle will not surface that. AssessmentCloud scores culture, process, digital maturity, skills and compliance readiness against an industry median for a flat monthly price from $49, which is a cheaper and faster question to answer first. It is a different purchase, not a rival to Betterworks, and running it first often changes what you buy next.

HOW IT WORKS

From setup to scored report

01

Decide which plan you are actually pricing

If you need reviews, goals and 1:1s, you are pricing Performance at $8 per user a month. If you also need calibration, succession and talent mobility, skills intelligence, unified talent profiles and individual development plans, you are pricing Performance plus Talent Intelligence at $9. If engagement surveys, change management services or in-app guides are on your requirements list, you are pricing Enterprise, and Enterprise has no published number. Knowing which of the three you are in changes whether the website is any use to you at all.

02

Multiply the published rate before the first call

The per-user rates are per month, so the annual figure is users times rate times twelve. At the $8 rate that is $48,000 for 500 users, $96,000 for 1,000 and $192,000 for 2,000. At $9 it is $54,000, $108,000 and $216,000. Those are our totals from the published rates, not figures Betterworks prints. Walking in with the number already calculated changes the conversation, because the discussion moves to term length and volume discount rather than to whether you can afford the list rate.

03

Get the implementation figure in writing, separately

Betterworks states implementation is a one-time cost on top of the per-user price but does not publish what it is. Ask for it as its own line, ask what it includes, and ask what happens if the rollout slips a quarter. Also ask whether the Professional Services engagement is required at your size or optional. On a first-year budget for a 500-person deployment, an unpriced implementation line is the difference between a plan finance approves and one it sends back.

04

Price the renewal and the seat count method at the same time

Betterworks says pricing is based on active user population. Ask what counts as active, how seats are trued up when you hire mid-year, whether the rate is locked for the term, and what the renewal looks like. Vendors in this market differ sharply here: Workday Peakon has been sold on a multi-year term at full headcount, while 15Five states no minimum at all on its standard packages. The seat-count method can matter more than the headline rate if your headcount moves.

DIAGNOSTIC INPUT, NOT A CERTIFIED AUDIT.

AssessmentCloud scores tell you how ready you are and what to fix. They do not certify you against SOC 2, ISO 27001, or any legal framework, and we never claim they do. Only an accredited auditor can certify you. Run the diagnostic first, walk into the audit without surprises, and spend auditor hours on certification instead of discovery.

FAQ

Questions about betterworks pricing

Betterworks costs $8 per user per month for the Performance plan and $9 per user per month for Performance plus Talent Intelligence, according to its own pricing page. The Enterprise plan is custom priced and no figure is published. Implementation is a separate one-time cost on top of the per-user rate. At 500 users, the $8 plan is $48,000 a year before implementation, by our arithmetic.

Yes, for two of its three plans. Several third-party buyer guides still describe Betterworks as a vendor that does not publish pricing, and that was out of date when we checked the page on 21 September 2026: the Performance and Performance plus Talent Intelligence cards both carry a per-user rate. Only the Enterprise tier is custom. Check the vendor page rather than an aggregator, because the aggregators disagree with the card and with each other.

No. Engage, the engagement survey product, is listed only in the Enterprise plan, which is custom priced. The $8 Performance plan covers performance management, goals and OKRs, feedback, conversations, 1:1 meetings, AI assistance and SSO. If engagement surveys are the reason you are evaluating Betterworks, the published rates do not apply to your deal and you will be quoted.

Betterworks does not state a hard minimum. Asked about a minimum employee count, its pricing FAQ answers that Betterworks adds the most value for organizations with over 500 employees. Treat that as a statement about fit rather than a contractual floor. Smaller teams can ask for a quote, but the commercial model is built around enterprise deployments and the pricing conversation usually reflects that.

Betterworks does not publish an implementation figure. Its pricing FAQ states only that implementation is a one time cost in addition to the per user per month pricing, delivered by a Professional Services team that designs, implements and launches the program. Ask for it as a separate written line alongside the per-user rate, and ask whether it is required at your headcount or optional.

One dollar per user per month, and a specific set of talent features. Performance at $8 covers goals and OKRs, feedback, conversations, 1:1 meetings, AI assistance and SSO. Performance plus Talent Intelligence at $9 adds Anytime Calibration, Succession and Talent Mobility, Skills Intelligence, a Unified Talent Profile, Individual Development Plans and AI inference. Betterworks marks the $9 tier most popular.

No free trial is offered on the Betterworks pricing page. The published path is a discovery call to understand your organization, needs and timeline, after which the team builds a proposal. If a self-serve trial matters to your evaluation process, Leapsome states a 14-day free trial with no credit card on its own pricing page, which is the closest published alternative on that specific point.

On the headline performance rate, yes. Betterworks Performance is $8 per user a month against Lattice Foundations at $13 and 15Five Perform at $11. The comparison changes on two points: Lattice states a $4,000 minimum annual agreement that Betterworks does not, and both Lattice and 15Five price engagement surveys at $4 a seat a month while Betterworks puts engagement inside its custom-priced Enterprise tier.

It depends on which part of Betterworks you were buying. For performance management with a published card, Lattice and 15Five both print every module rate. For engagement surveys at a published rate, Microsoft Viva Glint and the same two vendors publish figures where Culture Amp, Perceptyx and Workday Peakon do not. Our eight-vendor comparison sets out what each one publishes rather than what review sites estimate.
