Gallup Q12 pricing: what the Gallup Q12 employee engagement survey costs per participant, and what Gallup Access costs

Gallup publishes one price and withholds the other. The one-time Q12 survey sold on the Gallup store has a figure printed on it. Gallup Access, the platform where most real Q12 programs actually run, routes you to a demo request. Most third-party pages still quote an older number that is no longer on any Gallup page. This page separates the two products, gives the arithmetic at real headcounts, and flags the purchase rule that catches buyers out.

Gallup Q12 pricing splits across two different products. The one-time Q12 survey on the Gallup store is listed at $20.00 per participant under SKU 13870, with a stated minimum of four participants, sold as a digital product delivered by email. Gallup states that you cannot add participants to the survey after purchase, so you buy the seat count up front. Those details were read off store.gallup.com in August 2026. Many third-party roundups still quote $15 per employee, which no longer matches what Gallup own store charges. The enterprise route is a separate purchase: Gallup Access, the platform on which Q12 surveys have been bought and managed since November 2020, publishes no price at all and sends buyers to a demo request. Gallup old self-serve pricing URL now redirects to that sales page, and the separate Gallup Employee Engagement Center domain now redirects to Gallup Access carrying a sunset campaign tag, so the cheap self-serve tier and the enterprise tier are no longer two shop windows onto the same product. What the store price buys is the Q12 itself, twelve elements plus a thirteenth overall satisfaction item that Gallup states is not factored into Q12 scoring, a dashboard showing real-time participation, a heatmap tool that cuts results by reporting groups you define and exports to Excel, a one-page results PDF, and a conversation guide for managers. Gallup Access adds Q12+ with four additional questions, access to 350+ scientifically validated survey items, benchmark comparisons and guided action planning, all priced on request. Assessmentcloud is not a Gallup product and does not administer or reproduce the Q12. This platform scores five organizational dimensions, culture and engagement (CU-01), process maturity (PR-02), digital maturity (DM-03), skills gaps (SG-04) and compliance readiness (CR-05), into one 0 to 100 report against an industry median, priced for the whole company rather than per participant. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by Gallup.

Go deeper: this dimension works alongside Viva Glint pricing and employee engagement survey pricing, and the guides on employee engagement software cost and best employee listening platforms show the frameworks behind the scoring.

LANDSCAPE

Every Gallup route to a Q12 survey, and what each one publishes

The store figures below were read off store.gallup.com in August 2026 and the platform contents come from Gallup own product pages rather than from a reseller or a review aggregator. Gallup changes packaging and pricing without notice and shows different rates to signed-in account holders, so treat this as the baseline you verify against rather than as a quote.

Route to a Q12 survey What it includes Published price (checked August 2026) Who it suits
Q12 survey on the Gallup store, SKU 13870 One-time digital survey, twelve Q12 elements plus a thirteenth satisfaction item Gallup excludes from Q12 scoring, real-time participation dashboard, heatmap tool with Excel export, one-page results PDF, manager conversation guide $20.00 per participant, minimum four participants, one time Small teams and one-off reads where nobody needs a benchmark trend
Gallup Access Q12 and Q12+ surveys, 350+ scientifically validated survey items, benchmark comparisons, guided action planning, manager dashboards, lifecycle and pulse surveys, CliftonStrengths team grids Nothing published. Demo request only Organizations running a continuing engagement program that needs benchmarks and manager action cycles
Client, coach, educator and government rates The same products at rates Gallup does not display to signed-out visitors Visible only after logging into a Gallup store account Schools, public agencies and existing Gallup clients, who should never pay list without checking
The $15 per employee figure repeated across review sites Refers to the retired self-serve Employee Engagement Center tier, whose domain now redirects to Gallup Access under a sunset campaign tag Not on any Gallup page we could find in August 2026 Nobody. Treat it as stale wherever you see it quoted
Assessmentcloud A five-dimension organizational score covering culture and engagement, process maturity, digital maturity, skills gaps and compliance readiness, against an industry median. Not a Q12 substitute and not a licensed Q12 Priced for the whole company rather than per participant Teams that want breadth across five dimensions rather than depth on engagement alone

Two things fall out of this table that a headline rate hides. First, the only Gallup figure you can actually plan against covers the smallest version of the product, so any budget for a real, benchmarked, recurring engagement program has to be built from a quote rather than from a published number. Second, because the store meters on participants purchased rather than responses received, the effective price of the data rises as participation falls, which is the opposite of what most business cases assume. For the vendors that do publish at enterprise scale, Viva Glint pricing works through the only enterprise listening rate card in the category and Culture Amp pricing covers what a quote-only vendor genuinely discloses. Employee engagement survey pricing runs the arithmetic at 100, 300 and 1,000 employees, and the Gallup Q12 alternatives page covers what to look at if the Gallup route does not fit.

CU-01

What you get

The published figure is $20.00 per participant, not the $15 you will read elsewhere

Almost every roundup, review site and HR blog that names a Gallup Q12 price still says $15 per employee. That number traces back to the self-serve Employee Engagement Center tier, and it is stale. The figure on the Gallup store in August 2026 is $20.00 per participant for SKU 13870. If a business case in your organization was built on $15, it is roughly a third short before anything else is counted. Check the store yourself before you present a number, because this is exactly the kind of figure that rots quietly while everyone keeps repeating it.

You buy participants up front and cannot add more afterwards

The store page states a minimum of four participants and warns that you cannot add participants to the survey after your purchase. That single rule changes how you budget. You are not paying per response, you are paying for invitations, so every person you buy a slot for and who then does not answer is money that produced no data. Count the people you will genuinely invite, allow for the leavers and new starters who will move in the window, and buy once. Guessing low is worse than guessing slightly high, because the fix is a second purchase rather than an adjustment.

Cost per completed response is the number that belongs in the business case

At $20.00 per participant, 300 invitations cost $6,000 as a one-time purchase, by our own arithmetic rather than a Gallup quote. If 60 percent of those people answer, you get 180 usable responses, so the real cost of a data point is closer to $33 than to $20. Response rate is therefore a direct multiplier on price here in a way it is not with a per-seat annual platform, and it is the strongest argument for spending effort on participation before spending more on tooling. Run that division before you compare Gallup against anything else.

The store product and Gallup Access answer different questions

The $20.00 store survey is a one-time read: you field it, you get a dashboard, a heatmap and a PDF, and it ends. Gallup Access is the continuing program, with Q12+ , the wider item library, benchmark comparisons and guided action planning, and it is quoted rather than listed. Buying the store product expecting benchmark trends and manager action cycles is the most common mismatch. Decide which of the two you actually need before you price either, because they are not tiers of one product so much as two ways of buying the same instrument.

HOW IT WORKS

From setup to scored report

01

Count the people you will actually invite

Not headcount, not licensed users, but the list of individuals who will receive a link. Include contractors if they are in scope and exclude anyone on long-term leave who will not respond. Because Gallup states participants cannot be added after purchase, this list is the purchase. Build it from a current HRIS export rather than from last year number, and add a small allowance for starters who join before you field.

02

Multiply by $20.00 and then divide by your expected response rate

The first number is what you pay. The second is what the data actually costs. At 100 participants you are at $2,000, at 300 you are at $6,000, and at 1,000 you are at $20,000, all one-time, all our arithmetic on Gallup published per-participant figure. Then divide by the responses you realistically expect. If your last survey landed at 55 percent, price the exercise at roughly $36 a response and see whether it still looks right.

03

Check whether you qualify for a rate Gallup does not show publicly

The Gallup store tells signed-out visitors that client, coach and educator pricing requires logging into an account before checkout, and that signing in gives access to special pricing for educators, government agencies and existing Gallup clients. If you are a school district, a public agency or already buy anything from Gallup, do not pay the list rate without checking what your account shows. The store also notes that only US purchases are supported, which matters if your entity is registered elsewhere.

04

Decide whether the question is engagement or something wider

If you need a validated, heavily benchmarked read on employee engagement specifically, and the brand credibility of the Q12 matters to your leadership, buy from Gallup and use this page to budget it accurately. If the real question is broader, where the organization stands across culture, process, technology, skills and compliance rather than engagement alone, that is a different instrument with a different shape and a flat company price rather than a per-participant meter. Answer that before you buy either one.

DIAGNOSTIC INPUT, NOT A CERTIFIED AUDIT.

Assessmentcloud scores tell you how ready you are and what to fix. They do not certify you against SOC 2, ISO 27001, or any legal framework, and we never claim they do. Only an accredited auditor can certify you. Run the diagnostic first, walk into the audit without surprises, and spend auditor hours on certification instead of discovery.

FAQ

Questions about gallup q12 pricing

The Q12 survey on the Gallup store is listed at $20.00 per participant as a one-time purchase, with a minimum of four participants. At 100 people that is $2,000 and at 300 it is $6,000. Gallup Access, the enterprise platform where continuing Q12 programs run, publishes no price and quotes on request.

Not any more. The $15 figure that circulates widely traces to the older self-serve Employee Engagement Center tier, and that domain now redirects to Gallup Access under a sunset campaign tag. The price on Gallup own store in August 2026 is $20.00 per participant. Budgets built on $15 are roughly a third short.

No. The Gallup Access pages describe the platform in detail, listing surveys, dashboards, benchmarks, action planning and CliftonStrengths team grids, but every pricing route ends at a demo request or a conversation with a representative. The old public Q12 pricing URL now redirects to that sales page rather than to a rate card.

Four. The Gallup store states a minimum of four participants for the one-time Q12 survey and warns that you cannot add participants after purchase. That makes the invitation list a purchasing decision rather than an administrative one, so build it from a current employee export before you check out.

No. Gallup states plainly on the store product that you cannot add additional participants to the survey after your purchase, and advises selecting enough participants up front. If you undercount, the remedy is a second purchase rather than an adjustment, so allow for starters who will join between buying and fielding.

The twelve Q12 elements plus a thirteenth overall satisfaction item that Gallup states is not factored into Q12 scoring, a dashboard showing real-time participation and reporting, a heatmap tool that analyzes results across reporting groups you define and exports to Excel, a one-page results PDF, and a conversation guide for managers.

Per participant purchased, which is effectively per invitation rather than per response. If you buy 300 participants and 60 percent answer, the 180 usable responses cost around $33 each rather than $20, by our own arithmetic. Response rate is a direct multiplier on the real price, so plan participation before you plan spend.

The store tells signed-out visitors that client, coach and educator pricing requires logging into an account before checkout, and that signing in unlocks special pricing for educators, government agencies and Gallup clients. Gallup does not display those rates publicly, so a school district or public agency should always check an account before paying the list price.
