SurveyMonkey employee engagement survey pricing: US plans and employee satisfaction survey cost

SurveyMonkey does not sell an employee engagement survey as a separate product. It sells survey plans, and the employee engagement program runs inside most of them. So the question an HR lead actually has to answer is which plan, for how many admins, at what response volume, and what you still do by hand once the answers come in. This page lists every US price SurveyMonkey publishes, the anonymity setting that has to be switched on before you send, and what the year comes to for one HR admin or a three-person team.

SurveyMonkey's US prices for running an employee engagement survey start at $39 a month (Advantage Annual, $468 a year, one user, 15,000 responses a year). Premier Annual is $139 a month, and Standard Monthly is $149 a month with 1,000 responses a month but no Programs. Team plans cost $30 or $92 per user a month, three users minimum, billed annually. Enterprise is quoted.

LANDSCAPE

Every US price SurveyMonkey publishes, as it applies to employee surveys

Every figure below was read on 26 September 2026 from SurveyMonkey's US pricing pages for individual and team plans, its employee engagement page, its programs page and its help center. SurveyMonkey shows prices in the visitor's local currency, so we read these from a US connection; a quote you find elsewhere may be in another currency. We are not affiliated with SurveyMonkey.

Plan or rule What SurveyMonkey states (US) What it means for an employee survey
Advantage Annual $39 a month, $468 billed annually. 1 user, 15,000 responses a year Cheapest plan that runs the employee engagement program. Unlimited surveys and questions, AI analysis and thematic analysis
Premier Annual $139 a month, $1,668 billed annually. 1 user, 40,000 responses a year More analysis depth for one admin. Still a single login
Standard Monthly $149 a month, billed monthly. 1 user, 1,000 responses a month The only month-to-month plan. Not in the list of plans that include programs
Team Advantage $30 per user a month, 3 users minimum, billed annually. 50,000 responses a year Shared templates, logos and themes, user roles. Floor of $1,080 a year at three seats (our arithmetic)
Team Premier $92 per user a month, 3 users minimum, billed annually. 100,000 responses a year Adds white label branding, multilingual surveys, crosstabs and phone support. Floor of $3,312 a year at three seats (our arithmetic)
Enterprise Custom price, contact sales Adds single sign-on, governance, user management reports, a US, Canada or EU data center, premium onboarding and customer success access
Programs Available on Advantage, Premier, Team and Enterprise plans Linked engagement, pulse and eNPS surveys on a schedule, tracked over time
Overage $0.15 per additional response on paid plans Rarely reached by an employee program under 1,000 staff
Email invitation anonymity Email address and IP recorded by default Turn on Anonymous Responses before sending. Invitation tracking of who responded still works
Free Basic plan Listed on the individual pricing page with a 10 question limit per survey Too small for a full engagement questionnaire; fine for testing the builder

Now the totals, which are our arithmetic and not figures SurveyMonkey prints. One HR admin, quarterly program: Advantage Annual, $468 a year. HR plus two department heads: Team Advantage at three seats, $1,080 a year. Same team, results in Spanish and English with crosstabs: Team Premier at three seats, $3,312 a year. Against that, AssessmentCloud Team is $49 a month and Business $119 a month ($1,188 a year billed yearly), flat regardless of how many managers read the report. SurveyMonkey is the cheaper survey. We are the cheaper diagnosis. What you get

There is no separate engagement product to buy

SurveyMonkey's employee engagement page sells an Employee Engagement Program: linked engagement surveys, pulse surveys and eNPS surveys run on a schedule, with AI text analysis of comments and industry benchmarks. Its programs page says programs are available on the Advantage, Premier, Team and Enterprise plans. None of the US pricing pages lists a separate engagement SKU or a per-employee price. Review sites that still list a stand-alone SurveyMonkey Engage product priced per employee are describing something the current pricing pages do not sell.

The monthly plan is the one that leaves out the program

Standard Monthly at $149 a month is the only plan you can pay month to month, and it is also the only paid plan missing from SurveyMonkey's list of plans that include programs. It caps responses at 1,000 a month. For a one-off employee satisfaction survey that is enough. For a recurring engagement program with pulses in between, the practical entry point is Advantage Annual at $468 a year, paid up front.

Individual plans are one user. Team plans start at three

Advantage Annual and Premier Annual are single-user plans. The moment a second person in HR or a department head needs to build or read results in the account, you are on a Team plan, and SurveyMonkey's FAQ is explicit that Team plans require a minimum of 3 users. Team Advantage is $30 per user a month and Team Premier $92, both billed annually, so the floor is $1,080 or $3,312 a year before anyone sends a survey.

Anonymity is a setting, and email invitations are not anonymous by default

SurveyMonkey's help center says email invitations are designed to track respondents, so results include each respondent's email address and IP address by default. To remove them you turn on Anonymous Responses for that collector before sending; it cannot be applied retroactively. Even then, invitation tracking of who has responded still works, because that data is tied to the invitation rather than the results. Employees who notice the reminder emails will ask about this. Decide your answer first.

Response volume is rarely the constraint for a company under 1,000 people

Advantage Annual allows 15,000 responses a year and Premier Annual 40,000; Team Advantage allows 50,000 and Team Premier 100,000. A 400 person company running one annual survey and three pulses produces about 1,600 responses a year at full participation (our arithmetic). Overage is charged at $0.15 per additional response on paid plans. You will pay SurveyMonkey for seats and features long before you pay it for volume.

What you still do yourself after the survey closes

SurveyMonkey gives you templates, logic, dashboards, crosstabs on Premier tiers and AI theme analysis of comments. It does not tell you which part of the organization is weakest against a peer median, or what to fix first. That interpretation is the job AssessmentCloud does: a scored diagnostic of culture, process, digital maturity and skills, 0 to 100 per dimension against an industry benchmark, with a prioritized action plan. Flat from $49 a month. If you want a general survey tool for every team in the company, SurveyMonkey is the better buy.

HOW IT WORKS

From setup to scored report

01

Count the people who need to log in

One HR generalist who builds the survey and shares a PDF with leadership fits an individual plan. Two or more people building, editing or slicing results means a Team plan with a three-seat minimum. This single count moves the annual bill from $468 to at least $1,080, so settle it before you compare anything else.

02

Decide whether you need a program or a single survey

A once-a-year employee satisfaction survey can run on any paid plan, including Standard Monthly for a single month. A recurring engagement program with pulses and eNPS check-ins needs Advantage, Premier, Team or Enterprise, per SurveyMonkey's programs page. If the plan is quarterly measurement, budget for a full year.

03

Configure anonymity before the first invitation goes out

Turn on Anonymous Responses in the collector options, set a rule for how small a department can be before you report it, and tell staff in the invitation exactly what is and is not recorded. SurveyMonkey's help center is clear that the setting cannot be added after sending, so this is a launch step, not a cleanup step.

04

Price the interpretation, not only the survey

Add the hours someone will spend turning results into a leadership readout and an action plan. If that work is the real bottleneck, compare the SurveyMonkey plan with a scored tool that returns a benchmark and a ranked action list. Our Business plan is $119 a month, or $99 a month billed yearly, for 500 respondents a month across four assessment areas.

DIAGNOSTIC INPUT, NOT A CERTIFIED AUDIT.

AssessmentCloud scores tell you how ready you are and what to fix. They do not certify you against SOC 2, ISO 27001, or any legal framework, and we never claim they do. Only an accredited auditor can certify you. Run the diagnostic first, walk into the audit without surprises, and spend auditor hours on certification instead of discovery.

FAQ

Questions about surveymonkey engagement pricing

It costs whatever the underlying plan costs, because SurveyMonkey sells no separate engagement product. In the US that is $468 a year for Advantage Annual with one user, $1,668 for Premier Annual, or $30 and $92 per user a month on Team plans with a three-user minimum. The engagement program is included on those plans.

Yes. SurveyMonkey publishes an employee engagement survey template and a library of HR templates you can edit, and its Employee Engagement Program bundles engagement, pulse and eNPS surveys into a scheduled program. The template is a starting questionnaire; scoring the results against a benchmark and deciding what to act on remain your job.

Only if you set them up that way. SurveyMonkey's help center says email invitations record each respondent's email and IP address by default. Turning on Anonymous Responses before sending removes them from results, but SurveyMonkey still tracks which invitations were answered. Anonymous web links avoid that, at the cost of response tracking.

Advantage Annual at $39 a month, billed $468 a year, is the cheapest plan that includes programs. Choose Premier Annual for more analysis depth, Team Advantage if more than one person needs access, and Team Premier if you need multilingual surveys or crosstabs. Standard Monthly does not appear in the programs plan list.

Yes, on Standard Monthly at $149 a month in the US, with 1,000 responses a month and one user. Every other individual and team plan is billed annually, and Team plans require at least three users. Running a single annual satisfaction survey on Standard Monthly for one month is a legitimate way to keep costs down.

SurveyMonkey's employee engagement page says you can compare results against industry benchmarks, and its compare-plans page lists global and industry benchmarks as a feature. Benchmarks are built on standardized question wording, so ask whether your custom questions can be benchmarked, and confirm the tier you are quoted includes them before buying.

It is good at collecting them: cheap per response, easy to build, strong templates and integrations. It is weaker at telling a leadership team what the results mean, because interpretation and action planning are left to you. Companies that already have an HR analyst tend to be happy with it.

A satisfaction survey asks whether people are content with pay, conditions and their job. An engagement survey asks whether they are committed and willing to put in discretionary effort, and it tracks drivers like manager support and growth. SurveyMonkey runs both on the same plans, so the choice changes the questions, not the price.

Per-employee engagement platforms such as Culture Amp, Lattice and 15Five add continuous feedback and manager workflows at a higher price. Microsoft Viva Glint publishes $2 per user a month. For a scored, benchmarked diagnosis at a flat rate, AssessmentCloud starts at $49 a month.
